HOW DOES ETHANOL EXTRACTION WORK?
Ethanol extraction is one of the oldest methods of plant material extraction, and still ranks among the safest and most natural scientific processes used in modern industrial applications.
First, the cannabis biomass (a fancy term for plant material) is mixed with organic ethanol to dissolve the cannabinoids, terpenes, and other fun stuff the plant produces in a giant, highly concentrated tincture. Ethanol is a superior solvent for cannabis because it naturally extracts a greater spectrum of the plant’s beneficial compounds than butane or CO2.
All of this takes place inside our fancy, Delta CUP, which is like an ice cold ethanol washing machine that spins the biomass almost completely dry as the tincture is drained out to a series of lenticular filters, which remove undesirable compounds like chlorophyl and lipids.
Then the filtered tincture is placed into our solvent recovery system, the TruSteel AV15, to remove the ethanol, leaving full spectrum oil. For the clear distillate fan, the oil is then distilled in our Summit Research fractional distillation setup to isolate the pure, high concentrate clear oil.
